Environmental Expert and University Chancellor
Brigitte Baptiste is a Colombian biologist who graduated from the Pontifical Javeriana University. She holds a Master's degree in Tropical Conservation and Development from the University of Florida. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Environmental Management from Unipaz and an Honorary Doctorate in Law from the University of Regina.
For a decade, she served as the director of the Alexander Von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute. Since 2019, she has been the rector of the University EAN, an institution of higher education focused on sustainable entrepreneurship.
She is considered an expert in environmental and biodiversity issues and is a prominent leader in gender diversity. She has also played a significant role in bridging the gap between politics, academia, and science. She was a member of the global panel of experts for the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and co-authored the Values Assessment of the same platform. Currently, she is part of several national and international networks associated with biodiversity management.
