Gareth Whittington-Jones joined Panthera in 2015 to coordinate the Furs for Life project before progressing onto a broader Counter Wildlife Crime (CWC) role overseeing site protection, counter-trafficking, demand reduction and wildlife crime analysis initiatives primarily in southern Africa.
Gareth was appointed Director of Panthera’s CWC program in 2024, leading an interdisciplinary team of global CWC specialists. The global CWC team collaborates with Panthera’s regional staff, conservation scientists, field teams and partner organizations to develop and implement strategies addressing pressing wildlife crime problems threatening wild cats worldwide.
Gareth has extensive experience working in the Middle East and Africa and holds an MSc in Zoology.
