Saving species across their range is a challenging task, and no single entity can do it alone. Strategic partnerships are essential to successfully conserve wild cats, and effectively address the many threats and issues with which wild cats are faced. While Panthera supports and works with many individuals, local and international non-government organizations, and government agencies alike, the below list of partners are those with whom we have joint, long-term commitments, where we have pooled resources – human and financial – and where we work along a defined and shared roadmap towards conservation success. We believe this list will grow over the years.

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) saves wildlife and wild lands. We do so through careful science, international conservation, education, and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo. Together, these activities change individual attitudes toward nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in sustainable interaction on both a local and a global scale. WCS is committed to this work because we believe it essential to the integrity of life on Earth. www.wcs.org

The mission of the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit (known as the WildCRU) is to achieve practical solutions to conservation problems. We do this through original scientific research of the highest calibre. Vitally, we also train committed conservation scientists to conduct research, and to put scientific knowledge into practice. We participate in the implementation of many conservation projects and embrace the need to educate and involve a wider public to achieve lasting solutions. www.wildcru.org

The mission of the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) is to discover, interpret, and disseminate – through scientific research and education – knowledge about human cultures, the natural world, and the universe. www.amnh.org

The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. www.zsl.org

Founded in 1981, the Snow Leopard Trust is the largest and oldest organization working solely to protect the endangered snow leopard and its Central Asian habitat. www.snowleopard.org
Panthera and Conservation International (CI) are partners in wild cat conservation. The organizations manage a shared grant program, the Small Cat Action Fund, in collaboration with the IUCN Cat Specialist Group. Panthera and CI are also collaborating on Global Information Systems (GIS) and mapping projects and intend to expand their partnership in the coming year.
Conservation International believes that the Earth's natural heritage must be maintained if future generations are to thrive spiritually, culturally, and economically. Our mission is to conserve the Earth's living heritage – our global biodiversity – and to demonstrate that human societies are able to live harmoniously with nature. www.conservation.org
Panthera and the Liz Claiborne Art Ortenberg Foundation (LCAOF) are partners in jaguar conservation. LCAOF has been dedicated to jaguar conservation for many years and has recently partnered with Panthera on the Liz Claiborne Art Ortenberg Jaguar Small Grants and a new Jaguar Corridor project in Northern South America.
The Liz Claiborne and Art Ortenberg Foundation is a private body devoted to the conservation of nature and the amelioration of human distress. The Foundation seeks to redress the breakdown in the processes linking nature and humanity. It concerns itself particularly with matters of species extinction, habitat destruction and fragmentation, resource depletion and resource waste. It favors solutions that directly benefit local communities and serve as exemplars for saving species and wildlands. It recognizes the imperative to reconcile nature preservation with human needs and aspirations. www.lcaof.org

The chairs of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Cat Specialist Group, Urs and Christine Breitenmoser, sit on Panthera’s Advisory Council and cooperate on the Small Cat Action Fund and the uniquely valuable Digital Cat Library.
Our mission is to influence, encourage and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable. www.iucn.org
